The singers achieving first, second and third positions in this grand contest would be given cash awards of Rs. 500,000, Rs. 200,000 and Rs. 100,000 respectively”.

These views were expressed by Punjab Minister for Information and Culture while addressing a crowded press conference held at Alhamra Arts Council, Lahore today which was attended by some renowned figures of arts including Ghulam Mohyuddin, Nisho Begum, Waris Baig, Shahida Mini, Pervaiz Kaleem, Humaira Arshad, besides Executive Director Alhamra Arts Council Athar Ali Khan and MD PTV Arshid Khan.

Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan said that new talent hunt program “Voice of Punjab” which was to begin from February 16 was postponed till March on account of occurrence of Sahiwal tragic incident.

The Minister observed that this program would bring forward talented and melodious singers which could not be unearthed due to non-provision of such opportunities, that is why, their talent was drained out.

The Minister hoped that this forum would explore best singers like Mehdi Hassan, Noor Jahan and Alam Lohar etc.

The Voice of Punjab would be aired by PTV and its revenue to be generated would be equally shared between Information and Culture Department and PTV, the Minister added.
