Wapda win 30th National Women Hockey Championship

Lahore : Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said the game of hockey will flourish among the females after the successful holding of  30th National Women Hockey Championship; he said this while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of 30th National Women Hockey Championship at National Hockey Stadium on Monday.

Wapda women team toppled Punjab Colours by a big margin of 4-0 and won the 30th National Women Hockey Championship comfortably. Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar and Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) Irfan Ahmad were the guests of honour at the closing ceremony.

Secretary PHF Shahbaz Senior, Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti, GM Women Wing PHF Tanzeela Amir Cheema and a large number of hockey enthusiasts was also present on this occasion.

DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar was warmly received upon reaching the National Hockey Stadium. Air Vice-Marshal Irfan Ahmad also presented a souvenir to DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar on this occasion.

DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar awarded medals to Punjab Colours women team. He also announced cash prize of Rs 50000 for Punjab Colours women team and Rs 25000 for Wapda team.

Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar appreciated Punjab Colours women team for reaching the final of National Hockey Championship for the first time. “Punjab Colours women team deserved huge appreciation for their marvelous performance. We expect that Punjab team will offer even more improved performance in the next national championship and emerge as champion team,” he added.

DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said: “It was wonderful opportunity for Pakistan women players to show their hockey talent. The female players from across the country featured in the grand event. We are quite hopeful that Pakistan will find several talented players after this championship”.

AVM Irfan Ahmed, in his address also congratulated Wapda and Punjab Colours women hockey teams for their outstanding performance in the championship. “The women players of all participating teams offered excellent performance in the championship which is good omen for the future of hockey in Pakistan”.
