Lahore : Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar inaugurated the National Open Men’s and Women Swimming Championship at Punjab International Swimming Complex .
President PSF Maj Majid Waseem, Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti and a large number of swimming crowd were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar distributed prizes among the top swimmers . President PSF Maj Majid Waseem presented a souvenir to Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar on this occasion.
Pakistan Swimming Federation (PSF) is organising the competitions of National Open Men’s and Women Swimming Championship from Nov 2 to 4, 2018 with the collaboration of Sports Board Punjab.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said Sports Board Punjab will collaborate with sports associations to organize more big sports events. “We are planning to build sports academy in Punjab. The proposed academy will be a valuable sports facility for the youth of the province,” he added.
Appreciating the championship, Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said the events like National Open Men’s and Women Swimming Championship will help Pakistan produce top level swimmers. “The game of swimming is very popular in the world and we are quite confident that Pakistan will also produce quality swimmers in the years to come. Our young male and female swimmers should take full advantage of this world class Punjab International Swimming Complex”.
Army clinched two gold and two silver medals on the opening day while Wapda swimmers annexed two gold, one silver and one bronze medal. Sindh swimmers won one silver and three bronze medals on the first day.
