National Junior Badminton Championship kicks off

Lahore : National Junior Badminton Championship got under way with a grand opening ceremony at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall on Thursday.

It’s worth-mentioning that Sports Board Punjab (SBP) is providing all the facilities to conduct National Junior Badminton Championship under the directives of Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan.

Secretary General Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) Wajid Ali Ch, Member Overseas Pakistani Commission Majid Ali Chaudhry, Secretary Punjab Badminton Association Tayyab Sohail, Secretary Punjab Olympic Association Idris Haider Khawaja and a large number of badminton players, officials and spectators were also present in the inaugural ceremony.

Secretary General Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) Wajid Ali Chaudhary on this occasion expressed his gratitude to Director General Sports Punjab Aamir Jan for extending all essential facilities to conduct National Junior Badminton Championship. “Sports Board Punjab has always been very generous whenever it comes to holding national or provincial sports events across the province,” he added.

“Punjab Badminton Association is organizing this championship with the collaboration of Sports Board Punjab and Pakistan Badminton Federation,” he added.

Secretary General Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) Wajid Ali Chaudhary informed that male and female players from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Fata and Islamabad are competing in Girls Singles U-18, Girls Doubles U-18, Girls Singles U-16, Boys Singles U-14, Boys Singles U-16, Boys Singles U-18 and Boys Doubles U-18 categories during the 4-day National Junior Badminton Championship.

Boys Single U-14 First Round

Hashir (KP) beat Ali Zain (Sindh) by 21-6, 21-13

Umar Khan (KP) beat M Ali Mehdi (Balochistan) by 21-9, 21-5

Zavior (Islamabad) beat Israr Hassan (Balochistan) by 21-19, 17-21, 21-19

Boys Single U-16 First Round

Muhammad Taha (Sindh) beat Hassan Raza (Balochistan) by 21-11, 21-12

Muhammad Uzair (KP) beat Syed Hassan (Balochistan) by 21-11, 21-12

Danyal Shahzada (KP) beat Nouman Habib (Punjab) by 21-8, 10-21, 21-19

M Haneef (Punjab) beat Ghadeer Ali (Balochistan) by 21-5, 21-14

Harris Fareed (Punjab) beat Mazhar Hussain (Balochistan) by 21-6, 21-13

Hamza (KP) beat Mahad Bin Rafay (Islamabad) by 21-15, 21-13
