Lahore : Justice (r) Nasir ul Mulk on his nomination as caretaker Prime Minister is widely welcomed in the country by all stakeholders.
Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah ended the rumors by announcing the name of former judge as a caretaker prime minister in the presence of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
The decision came after a series of meetings between Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Leader of the Opposition Syed Khurshid Shah and was announced jointly here at the Parliament House, in the presence of Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq.
“We have agreed that former Chief Justice of Pakistan Nasir ul Mulk will be the Caretaker Prime Minister,” the Leader of Opposition Khurshid Shah said.
He said Nasir ul Mulk was chosen from a list of six and was finalised from a short list of four candidates.
The outgoing prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the name was selected after careful consideration and studying in detail his credentials and the past.
Khursheed Shah said he was optimist that the caretaker prime minister would be acceptable to all other parties and the nation as a whole.
He expressed the hope that the caretaker prime minister would be able to come up to the expectations of the nation by holding free, fair and transparent elections.
He said a lot of names were considered and said they all were highly credible people and equally good, however the final decision was taken with consensus.
He said there were no negative points related to any of the suggested candidates, however the final decision had to be taken keeping in view every party’s choice.
PTI chairman Imran Khan , JI Ameer Siraj ul Haq ,PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif and others welcomed Justice (r) Nasir ul Mulk ,expressing hope that he would ensure fair ,free and transparent elections which will strengthen the democracy in the country.
President PML-N Shahbaz Sharif has welcomed the nomination of Justice (R) Nasir-ul-Mulk as caretaker prime minister and extended felicitations to him. He hoped that his nomination will prove a good omen for the democracy.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb congratulated Justice (r) Nasirul Mulk on his nomination as caretaker Prime Minister.
In a statement, she said consensus of the government and opposition on name of Nasir ul Mulk was a good omen and felicitated Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah.
She said every Pakistani deserves to be greeted on the start of a new chapter of strengthening of democracy and democratic process in Pakistan.”We salute the political and democratic forces on ten years of continuity of democracy in Pakistan.”
