Senators claim they have not dual nationality

ahore : few interesting facts has been come to light after the supreme court orders to hold notification of newly elected senators who have reportedly have dual nationality.

Sadia Khaqan Abbasi is sister of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. She is a Pakistani politician who has been a Member-elected of the Senate of Pakistan, since March 2018. Previously she had been a Member of the Senate from March 2003 to February 2009.

Ms Abbasi was elected to the Senate of Pakistan as a candidate of PML-N on reserved seat for women from Punjab in March 2003 Senate elections.

In February 2009, she quit PML-N and resigned from her Senate seat shortly before the expiry of her term in the Senate after PML-N refused to issue her ticket for running in the March 2009 Senate elections.

In December 2011, she joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. She was re-elected to the Senate as an independent candidate on a reserved seat for women from Punjab in Pakistani Senate election, 2018.

Saadia Abbasi is Barrister at Law and Member Senate of Pakistan. Having received her education from world renowned educational institutions of United States and United Kingdom in Law and Political Science, she is a fervent advocate of all-round political, economic and social reform. She is member of Policy Planning Wing of Government of Pakistan and frequently expresses her conviction and vision on intellectual forums and press with the diversity and depth of her knowledge.

Nuzhat Sadiq has also elected senator in March 2013 but no one took any notice of her dual nationality but this time as she was elected senator for second term in March 2018 , her US citizenship discussed in the court and ECP held her notification on the directions of Supreme Court of Pakistan. She has claimed that she has quit US citizenship a few years back.

Ch Sarwar has claimed that he had quit British nationality before taking oath as a Governor Punjab in 2013.

Haroon Akhtar Khan has also stated that he has not Canadian Nationality.
