CEC nominates Shahbaz Sharif as president PML-N for 7 days

Lahore : The central executive committee of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz has nominated Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif as a president for 7 days and after that on 6 March elections for the slot of party head would be held. The CEC also elected Nawaz Sharif as a Quaid forever.

The CEC meeting chaired by the party chairman Raja Zafar ul Haq. All the members of CEC including Maryam Nawaz , Hamza Shahbaz ,PM Shahid Khaqan Abbas, Saira Afzal Tatar, governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra , Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq,Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana , Dr Asif Kirmani ,Ahsan Iqbal, Kh Saad Rafiq , Raja Farooq Haider , Sana ullah Zehri and others attended the meeting except Ch Nisar Ali Khan.

Nawaz Sharif purposed the name of Shahbaz Sharif for party president which unanimously approved by the CEC members.

Shahbaz Sharif is currently working as PML-N Punjab president and now he would have dual office in the party.

Addressing the meeting , Nawaz Sharif criticized the accountability process stating that it never happened even in dictatorship which is going on now. He will not bow down before the unlawful acts and will not accept such decisions.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that today is an important moment in his life and it is no easy task to control the sentiments while holding the office of President of PML-N.

He said that he has closely watched his elder brother and leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, during the last thirty years, laying the foundations of PML-N and developing it as the largest and most popular political party with his hard work and collaboration of party followers and colleagues.

I consider it as a good luck that we have the patronage of an experienced and far-sighted political leader in shape of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in these circumstances. There is nothing bigger honour for me that a leader of the stature of Nawaz Sharif has selected me for this post. My heart and mind are asking me again and again that if any other person could replace Nawaz Sharif and the love which the people have showered at Nawaz Sharif always can be shared with any other person?

Certainly, it is next to impossible. As I have stated that I have had the opportunity to serve the country and my party for the last more than thirty years as a younger brother and trusted lieutenant of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and I consider this service as a lifelong asset.

I can say it with all human modesty, but with a sense of pride, that I have always tried my best to follow the norms in my political career which I have learnt from my father. I expressed my gratitude for Nawaz Sharif and am thankful to all my learned colleagues that they have chosen me for this post of national service.

Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan has badly suffered in the past and there is a need of continued healing. It is a fact that we have had succeeded in starting a gigantic journey of national reconstruction under the leadership of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

He said that CPEC is one of the biggest national achievements and all the provinces and different areas have started benefiting from the fruits of this mega project.

Shahbaz Sharif said that it is the time to learn from the mistakes of the past and work for the country. I appeal to all the circles from the core of my heart that let us jointly think for the country.

Shahbaz Sharif assured that he shall utilize all his energies to fulfill the obligation. He said that PML-N will remain united and work under the guidance of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan will emerge as a great country in the comity of nations.
