Lahore : Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar has said that sports are essential for life as such activities encourage culture of discipline and tolerance in society.
He was addressing the closing ceremony of three-day sports gala organized by PU College of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Chairman Overseas Pakistan Commission Khalid Shaheen Butt, Principal CEES Prof Dr Sajid Rasheed, faculty members and large number students were present.
In his address, Dr Zakar, congratulating the organizers on holding successful event, said that PU students were very talented, who are competing in every field of life.
Khalid Shaheen Butt said that women’s participation in co-curricular activities in Punjab University was proof that society’s development was impossible without their involvement.
He said that games were very important for mental and physical fitness.
Dr Sajid Rashid thanked the guests and said that such activities highlight soft image of PU.
In the three-day sports gala, other sports competitions were held for students including cricket, ludo, chess, tug of war and football for students.
Later, prizes were distributed among the successful players.
