Lahore : Orange Line Metro Train will be commissioned on trial basis on 28th February 2018.
Advisor to the Chief Minister, Punjab and Chairman of the steering committee for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project (LOMTP) Khawaja Ahmad Hassan revealed this while chairing the weekly progress review meeting, here, Wednesday.
He directed for finalizing all relevant arrangements for the trail run of the train through five stations built on G.T. Road on a 5.5 kilo meters long stretch from Dera Gujran to Pakistan Mint.
He asked for preparing this length as a model area by carpeting and lane marking roads, carrying out horticulture work in spots reserved as green belts, constructing pedestrian walkways along the track and providing other required services.
He further directed for providing electricity connection from newly established substation, near Engineering University, to metro’s Depot at Dera Gujjran by the first week of February for commission the train on 28th of February.
He told that so far a total of 17 train sets for Orange Line have arrived Pakistan from China. The remaining 10 sets will be imported within next few weeks, he added.
The meeting was informed that that 82.5 percent of the civil work besides 38 percent electrical and mechanical work on Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project has so far been completed. Progress on package-I from Dera Gujjaran, G.T.Road to Chouburji was 89.5 per cent, on package-II from Choburji to Ali Town was 70.3 per cent, on Depot near Dera Gujran was 85 per cent while on Stabling Yard near Ali Town it was 86 per cent.
Construction of pears close to Budhu’s tomb and Ghulabi Bagh at G.T.Road and Lakshmi building at Mecleod Road has been completed. Track at these points will soon be completed by launching precast transoms and u-tub girders.
Land required for construction work in the premises of darbar Baba Moug Darya has been taken over, temporary arrangements for offering prayers have been made and reconstruction of the mosque will be commenced very soon, the meeting was apprised.
Khawaja Ahmad Hassan directed for following Supreme Court’s directions in letter and spirit while executing work near historical places and taking utmost care while shifting of utility serves close to these places. He asked for ensuring public facilitation at all costs during the execution of work on this project. He asked for prominent placement of big billboards for guidance and awareness of commuters about alternate routes during the closer of GPO chowk.
MPA Ch Shabaz Ahmad, Chief Engineer LDA Asrar Saeed Khan, Manager Operations Punjab Mass Transit Authority Syed Ozair Shah, Chief Engineer TEPA Saif Ur Rehman, senior officials of LESCO, WASA, PTCL, SUI GAS, Traffic Police, Railways, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, Chinese Contractor, CR- NOROINCO, Representatives of Chinese Engineering Consultant and Local Contractors of the project attended the meeting.
