Former Secretary Foreign Affairs Akram Zaki dies

Lahore : Former Secretary Foreign Affairs Akram Zaki passed away at the age of 86 years. Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Elehe Rajeune.

He was under treatment at PIMS for quite sometime but could not survived.

Akram Zaki (born 27 October 1931 died 30 November 2017) was a Pakistani politician. He has held the role of senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League and chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Zaki also served as Pakistani ambassador to China, Nigeria, the Philippines and the United States and remained as secretary general and minister of state for foreign affairs during a long career with the Foreign Service that spanned throughout the reigns of Z.A. Bhutto and Gen. Zia-ul-Haq.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of former foreign secretary Akram Zaki.

In his condolence message, he has prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with equanimity.

He has also paid tribute to the services of late Akram Zaki in the field of Foreign Service.
