SP and his family gun down in Quetta

Lahore : A senior police official and his three family members were martyred here in Quetta on Tuesday evening.

The police official, SP Investigation Muhammad Ilyas, and his family members were travelling in a vehicle when they were targeted by unknown gunmen on motorcycles.

The wife Farzana , son Muhammad Adeel Advocate and grandson 7 years old Abdul Wahab of the police official were also mar tyred in the attack which took place in the Nawa Kali area .

“Unknown assailants sprayed bullets on the vehicle of acting Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ilyas”, senior police official Abdul Razzaq Cheema told AFP.

The attackers managed to flee the scene of the incident. Security forces have initiated their investigation after reaching the crime scene.

The attack on the SP was condemned by chief minister Balochistan and instructed the relevant authorities to ensure the arrest of the attackers and take them to task.

Ilyas is the second senior police official assassinated in Quetta in the span of a week. Last week, a senior police officer was among three officials martyred in a suicide attack on Quetta’s airport road.
