Punjab Cabinet defends Companies which running departments

Lahore : Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sanaullah has said that the Shahbaz Sharif government is going to complete its second tenure and it is our claim that this government is serving the masses by fulfilling the standards of merit, transparency and honesty. We have responded to every allegation along with the correct record and in an honest manner.

He said that the government will issue notice to the channel that has broke a baseless and concocted story about alleged irregularities in companies as audit of 42 companies out of 53 companies has been completed.

He was addressing a press conference at 90 SQA today. Finance Minister Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Auqaf Minister Zaeem Qadri, Spokesman Punjab government Malik Ahmed Khan, Rana Arshad MPA and DG ACE Dr. Muzaffar Ranjha were also present on the occasion.

Rana Sanaullah said that the government has been accused of appointing 1.5 lakh employees on high salaries in these 53 companies.

He said that the total number of employees is 12138 and the number of employees of Lahore Waste Management Company is 10000. When we shifted the status of Lahore Waste Management to a company, then it was not proper to lay off these employees. Now the number of employees in this company is around 7000.

He said it has also been alleged that blue eyed officers have been appointed in these companies. Replying to it, he said that only 7 companies are those in which officers are taken which have fulfilled the recruitment process.

He said a board is constituted to recruit any staff in a private company and advertisement is released to the media and the staff is hired after fulfilling the recruitment process. He said constitution of companies was needed as the job can be done through public private partnership and the salary is identified according to market needs.

He said salary of CEO of HUBCO which is a private company is RS. 7 million per month while the pay of CEO of Bhikki project is Rs. 1 million. He said external auditors are present in all the companies and these auditors belong to accredited institutions and the same can be verified.

He said audit of 42 companies has been completed and the same is under process for 7 other companies, while the financial year of 4 companies is yet to be completed. He said the Chief Minister did not immediately contradict the report about the companies but has constituted a committee to ascertain facts.

He said that there is no corruption in government level and government has zero tolerance policy about it. He said impression of alleged irregularities in 53 companies could be the result of misunderstanding about audit paras.

He said setting up of Bhikki power plant in two years is a world record in which 73 billion rupees have been saved after the minimum bidding of the tender. He said around Rs. 291 billion have been saved in 14 important projects in Punjab. He also commended the role of ACE for ensuring transparency in the Punjab.
