Lahore : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said a huge sum of Rs.112 billion has been saved by setting a great example of transparency in 3600-megawatt gas-based projects and it is sanguine that these projects have been completed in a record period of time.
He was talking to a delegation of PML-N, here today.
The Chief Minister said that electricity produced by the gas-based projects is being provided to the consumers cheaply and it is important to note that the projects have been completed with such a speed and transparency that has no resemblance in 70 years history of the country.
The world has also acknowledged the speed with which energy projects have been completed during the last more than four years and Pakistani nation will always remember the historic achievements of Pakistan Muslim League-N for the eradication of energy crisis from the country.
The 1320 megawatt Sahiwal Coal Power Plant has been completed in a record period of 22 months only and nowhere in the world an energy project of this capacity has been completed in such a short span of time. Such projects are not completed in a period of 22 months even in China.
There is no doubt that world-record has been set with regard to speedy completion of energy projects.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said the incumbent government has spent national resources on public welfare in a very transparent manner. Contrary to it, the past rulers have set records of corruption in their tenures; how the people who have grabbed lands and written their loans off worth billions of rupees, can make a hue and cry against the corruption.
The levelers of baseless allegations should first peep into their corrupt past. The conscious people have fully realized that the allegations of defeated elements are just pack of lies.
He said that when the PML-N came into power, the energy crisis was turned into a chaotic situation in the country and the darkness of load-shedding, poverty and unemployment are gifts of past rulers’ corruption.
Corrupt rulers of the past filled their pockets by plundering the national resources but paid no heed to the eradication of energy crisis and Nandipur Power Plant was also a victim of lust of money of such looters.
Had the past rulers paid heed to the overcoming of the energy crisis, instead of plunder of resources, the country would not have succumbed to the darkness of load-shedding?
On one side, there are past rulers who have plundered the resources and on the other side, there are elements involved in increasing the troubles of the nation with their negative political style.
He said that nation will never forgive the elements who have impeded the journey of development and made the country hostage to darkness. He said that a cruel game has been played with the economy of the country in the backdrop of plunder of resources and sit-ins. The elements playing cruelty with the destiny of the nation does not want national development and prosperity.
He said that PML-N government has ensured most transparent and honest use of every penny of the national resources by considering them as a national obligation. It has also compensated the time wasted due to sit-ins, he added.
He said the PML-N government has succeeded in the court of people by fulfilling the commitments promised in the election of 2013 and it will also achieve success in the election of 2018 with a new vision of public service.
