Lahore : Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Jahangir Khanzada has said that Punjab International Swimming Complex is a gift of Punjab government for swimmers and snooker players and is tribute to youth like Muhammad Asif in the real sense who is raising the image of Pakistan throughout the world.
He expressed these views while addressing inaugural ceremony of snooker club at Punjab International Swimming Complex along with World Snooker Champion Muhammad Asif today.
Provincial Minister Ayub Gadhi, Director General Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman, Director Sports Muhammad Anees Sheikh, office-bearers of Snooker Owner Association Muhammad Imran Noshahi and Karamat Ghauri were also present on the occasion.
The Minister said that Muhammad Asif is our identity in the world of snooker.
He said that Punjab government is promoting its players along with sports in a best manner as we are proud of our players.
Jahangir Khanzada informed the participants that Punjab Sports Department is ensuring provision of infrastructure for all sports including snooker so that maximum recreational opportunities could be provided to the youth.
He welcomed the announcement of two days training for snooker lover youth at Punjab International Swimming Complex and termed it an honor for Sports Board Punjab.
Muhammad Asif while inaugurating snooker club appreciated the services of Punjab Sports Board for various sports and expressed the hope that Punjab government will play its important role for the promotion of snooker in future as well.
Muhammad Asif said that snooker is included in the most player sports in the world presently. Therefore it is necessary that provision of International level snooker academy should be ensured. He termed that Punjab International Swimming Complex as opportunity of training of children in snooker club.
Director General Sports Zulfiqar Ghumman assured Muhammad Asif that Sports Board Punjab will extend all out cooperation to play and players for batter future of snooker in the province.
In the end, Muhammad Asif in presence of provincial Ministers unveiled his picture in snooker club and thanked Sports Board Punjab on providing inauguration opportunity of snooker club.
