Lahore : The Federal Secretary, Ministry of Human Rights, Ms. Rabiya Javeri Agha, Joint Secretary, Ms. Humera Azam Khan, Director General (IC-Wing) Muhammad Hassan Mangi and Ms. Lubna Mansoor, Regional Director Punjab had a meeting at Civil Secretariat Punjab at Chief Secretary Zahid Saeed’s office .
Provincial Secretary for Human Rights Asim Iqbal; Commissioner Lahore Abdullah Sumbal; Additional Secretary Home and AIG Police were also present during the meeting.
The main focus of meeting was at the enhancement of data sharing and coordination among pioneer stake holders with regard to Human Rights at Provincial and Federal level.
An immense need to coordinate on reporting mechanism on international conventions was also focused.
The Human Right violations in perspective of child rights violations; both at Provincial and Federal level were brought into light. The best practices on the part of Punjab Government regarding steps to combat child labour, efforts of child protection bureau; coordinated efforts to up lift the primary education system were also discussed and appreciated.
The Federal Secretary, Ms. Rabiya Javeri Agha showed great concern on child abuse / murder cases reported in District Kasur.
In order to look further development the matter of child abuse, incident of District Kasur Federal Secretary for Human Rights also hold a meeting with Inspector General of Police, Punjab at his office. At this occasion the Regional Police Officer, Sheikhupura had given a detailed presentation to the Federal Secretary Human Rights, covering various aspects of police investigation on the subject incident.
On the directions of the Federal Secretary (Human Rights) a high profile team of the representatives of Ministry of Human Rights, comprising of Joint Secretary of Human Rights Ms. Humera Azam Khan, Director General (IC-Wing) and Regional Director for Human Rights Punjab Ms. Lubna Mansoor visited District Kasur on 24th August 2017, the team visited the District Police Officer Kasur and Deputy Commissioner Office Kasur.
The team also met the aggrieved families. The team stressed the need for joint efforts from all the stake holders to counter the emergence of such incidents in future.
The leadership of Ministry of Human Rights has identified the basic stakeholders from Provincial Government who can be a force on the eradication of child rights violation in District Kasur. There is need to develop strong ties among, local government, education, health skill development institutions to safeguard the basic rights of children.
All Federal, Provincial, civil society stakeholders, were on board to initiate and implant a one point awareness and rehabilitation agenda for the children especially regarding child abuse and murder cases at District Kasur.
