Lahore : National Transmission Dispatch Company (NTDC) team of Wapda won the Jashan-e-Azadi Volleyball match at Nishtar Part Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall here on Thursday. The Jashan-e-Azadi sports events are being organized under the aegis of Sports Board Punjab across the province.
The NTDC team of Wapda outplayed Lahore Division by a huge margin of 25-15 and 25-11 in the interesting match. NTDC players exhibited brilliant game and did not give room to their opponents to settle down. Basit Ali Mani of was adjudged player of the match for his outstanding performance.
MPA Farzana Butt, who is also Coordinator of Sports Board Punjab and Director Sports Muhammad Anees Sheikh were the guests of honour on this occasion. They distributed prizes among the prominent performers of the competition.
Talking to media, Director Sports Anees Sheikh said seven international volleyball players are taking part in Jashan-e-Azadi Volleyball event. “We are trying to incline 18/19 year-old boys in the sports activities so that they can serve the country after taking top class training in SBP academies,” he maintained. He said the purpose of Jashan-e-Azadi sports events is to bring the youth of the country into the ground.
“Sports Board Punjab, under the leadership of Director General Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman, is organizing 13 Jashan-e-Azadi sports competitions in which young players of the province are taking part with full passion,” he added.
