Lahore : Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has reiterated that the process of accountability begun with the Prime Minister must also spread over to the others including generals and entire government machinery down to a clerk,
Addressing a press conference at Mansoora on Wednesday, he said that the nation wanted accountability to go full circle. He said that the petition filed by the JI in the Supreme Court had also mentioned the names of 436 other persons named in the Panama leaks besides the former Prime Minister. He said if no action was taken against the others, the masses would believe that the verdict against Nawaz Sharif was biased.
He said the JI would approach the Supreme Court one again for the accountability of the others Panama leaks.
Sirajul Haq said that had Nawaz Sharif not repealed the law prohibiting transfer of wealth to other countries, the wealth of the nation would not have been transferred abroad.
He said that those getting huge bank loans to the tunes of billions written off and availing the benefits under the notorious NRO must also be brought to book.
He urged the Supreme Court to go a step forward and lay down a permanent mechanism for accountability to stop the plunder of the public money.
The JI chief demanded implementation of the Sartaj Aziz committee recommendations on FATA. He also counseled the government to stop finding fault with the Supreme Court judgment and instead try to improve its own working.
He demanded that a bill concerning electoral reforms be moved in the current NA session and the government should ensure enforcement of these reforms before the next elections.
The JI chief said that abolishing the articles 62 and 63 of the constitution would be tantamount to breaking the mirror instead of removing the dirt on one’s face.
