Lahore : Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that Supreme Court verdict in Panama Papers case accepted by PML-N in letter and spirit, but masses did not accepted it and Mian Nawaz Sharif is still their Prime Minister.
He said legal experts are not ready to accept this judgment and people of Pakistan have rejected this. Abbasi also said he hoped that one day the deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif would return to parliament.
Addressing the house after his election, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said strengthening economy and agriculture, promotion of tax culture and investment and integrated security would be his top priorities.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said there would be no load-shedding after November this year. He said ten thousand megawatt of additional electricity is being added to the national grid.
Prime Minister asked countrymen to pay their taxes honestly as he plans to take stern action against those involved in tax evasion.
He said rich people must pay their taxes for Pakistan’s economy to improve. Mr. Abbasi said he would focus on the issue in the coming months.
Prime Minister said he would ensure rule of law and would run the country strictly according to the constitution.
Shahid Khaqan expressed satisfaction that there was no derailment of democracy and the system is back on track within four days.
He said there are no allegations of corruption against Mian Nawaz Sharif. His only fault was that he made Pakistan nuclear power, stabilised economy, brought 60 billion dollar investment to the country under CPEC, worked hard to end load-shedding, imported LNG to run industry and introduced politics of decency.
He referred to problems of Karachi and said the package announced by former Prime Minister for the mega city would be implemented and development of FATA would be expedited.
The Prime Minister-elect thanked Mian Nawaz Sharif for nominating him for the top slot and his party and allies for reposing confidence in him. He also thanked the opposition for participating in the democratic process.
Naveed Qamar congratulated the new prime minister and asked him to give priority to education, health, law and order and poverty alleviation. He expressed the confidence that the new prime minister will move forward keeping in view the national interest.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmad said Parliament and the democratic system should stay intact. He voiced concerns over the reduction in exports and increase in trade deficit. He asked the new prime minister to pay attention to the completion of Nullah Lehi expressway and mother and childcare hospital in Rawalpindi.
Jamaat-e-Islami leader Sahabzada Tariqullah said an across the board accountability should be ensured.
Speaking on the occasion, MQM leader Farooq Sattar said such an accountability system should be evolved that could ensure across the board accountability.
Mahmood Khan Achakzai said it is regrettable that none of our prime minister has completed his mandated term. He said peace is imperative to make the country the Asian tiger.
Aftab Sherpao also congratulated the newly elected prime minister. He said today’s election is the continuity of our democratic process. He said despite reservations it is matter of great satisfaction that the Supreme Court judgment on Panama Papers case was implemented.
