Sports Festival concludes at Forman Christian College

Lahore : The closing ceremony of 16th Sports Festival of Pakistan Bible Society held at Forman Christian College (A Chartered University), Lahore on 20th July, 2017.

The Chief Guest of this ceremony was Honourable Jahangir Khanzada (Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs), the guest of Honour was Honourable Aamir Sohail (Ex. Cricketer and Chief Selector, PCB). His Excellency Rt. Rev. Irfan Jamil (Bishop of Lahore) and respectable General Secretary of Pakistan Bible Society Anthony Eijaz Lamuel were also honour us with their presence at the ceremony.

This festival is being organized under the kind leadership of Anthony Ejaz Lamuel (General Secretary Pakistan Bible Society), Irfan Francis (Chief Sports Coordinator) and Justus Nasir from the Pakistan Bible Society were coordinating this festival. This festival was started with the interfaith harmony matches and players from different religious communities participated in threes matches.

Jahangir Khanzada expressed his words of encouragement at the ceremony that Punjab government is keen interested to develop the sports and interfaith around the beloved country of Pakistan especially among youth. We are launching Chief Minister’s Talent Hunt Program 2017 which will give an opportunity to show talent to the world.

He also stressed on the need of peace and harmony in the region and appreciated the efforts of the Pakistan Bible Society in this regard.

Bishop Irfan Jamil also encouraged the youth by sharing his thoughts that sports is very important for youth because it keeps you safe from evils and gives opportunity to use of energy in better ways. The Bible also talks about the sports and farmer, wrestler, athletes, boxing and other sports are mentioned in it. Today, we need to be focused on discipline, team spirit and mutual harmony for the better system, peace and prosperity of Pakistan, so sports helps us doing so. I pray that these unavoidable goals may achieved through sports and such events. Let’s work together with brotherhood and discipline to eradicate the opposing forces through sports and proper use of youth energy.

We are very thankful to Dr. James A Tebbe, Rector FCCU, Lahore Col. (R) Rana Khaqan, Chief Safety and Security Officer and Babar Kamil, Director Sports for providing such facility.

The T-20 cricket, basketball, football, tap ball cricket tournaments, 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, 1500 meters and long jump competitions were conducted in festival.

At the end special prayers were asked for the peace, prosperity and solidarity of the Pakistan flowed by the national anthem.
