Lahore : On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the Punjab government has decided to celebrate the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr with simplicity keeping in view the unfortunate incident that has happened in Ahmed Pur Sharqia.
The Chief Minister has appealed to the people of the province to celebrate Eid with simplicity and to pray for those who had lost their lives and for the early recovery of those who got injured in the accident.
Shahbaz Sharif instead of returning to Lahore after inquiring health of the injured persons in Multan again went to Bahawalpur.
The Chief Minister expressed the resolve to transport the injured persons to Lahore in his supervision.
The Chief Minister personally monitored the transportation process of the injured persons to Lahore through C-130 aircraft.
The Chief Minister praised the efforts of Pakistan Army Jawans and Rescue 1122 staff and appreciated their arrangements for transportation of the injured. You are serving the nation and you deserve praise and commendation, he added.
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif today visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Bahawalpur, Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur & Burn Unit Multan to inquire after health of the injured people in Ahmed Pur Sharqia accident.
The Chief Minister turn by turn visited all the injured persons who got burn injuries in the accident and inquired about their health. The Chief Minister talked to the injured persons and raised their spirits.
While talking to the under treatment injured people in the hospital, the Chief Minister said that the prayers of the whole nation were with you. The whole nation is grieved over this unfortunate incident, he added.
The Chief Minister overviewed the medical facilities being given to the injured people in the CMH hospital. During the visit to CMH hospital, General Officer Commandant 35 Major General Amjad Khattak also accompanied the Chief Minister. The administration of the CMH hospital informed the Chief Minister about the medical facilities being given to the injured people.
After this the Chief Minister visited the Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur and inquired about the health of those who got injured in Ahmed Pur Sharqia accident. The Chief Minister went to inquire after the health of every single injured person.
The Chief Minister said that the incident that has happened in Ahmed Pur Sharqia has grieved the whole nation. The Chief Minister also visited the Burn Unit Multan where he inquired after the health of those who got burn injuries. The relevant team of Punjab government would remain in Bahawalpur and Multan till the recovery of last patient and the government would look after the injured till their complete recovery, he added.
The Chief Minister also gained information about the unfortunate incident from the patients.
The Corps Commander Multan Lieutenant General Sarfaraz Sattar also accompanied the Chief Minister. It is pertinent to mention here that the Burn Unit of Multan has been completed recently on the special instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and 58 people who got burn injuries are admitted in it. This Burn Unit is an important initiative of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to provide modern medical facilities to the people of South Punjab and is considered as the best Burn Unit in the region where not only best medical facilities are being provided to the patients but the doctors and other staff are properly taking care of the patients.
After inquiring the health of injured in Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur, the Chief Minister while talking to the media said that right after hearing the news of this unfortunate accident Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif directed me to personally monitor the rescue work and on his instructions I am here to inquire about the health of the injured and the best medical facilities are being provided to the injured.
The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is returning to Pakistan today despite his engagements and Insha Allah he will personally come to Bahawalpur to inquire about health of the injured.
The Chief Minister said that the best medical facilities are being provided to the injured in hospitals of Bahawalpur and Multan and the Punjab government will do its utmost efforts till the recovery of the last injured person.
The Chief Minister said that complete inquiry would be done on this unfortunate incident to know how the old tanker over turned on the highway and how it caught fire.
The Chief Minister also announced financial assistance of Rs.2 million for the heir of every deceased person and Rs.1 million for every injured person.
The Chief Minister said that this money would not bring back those who had lost their lives but it was a basic responsibility of the government.
The Chief Minister said that only those could feel the pain that had lost their near and dear ones.
The Chief Minister said that by announcing financial assistance to the heirs of the deceased and injured people the Punjab government has fulfilled its basic responsibility. Before that and after arriving in Bahawalpur the Chief Minister chaired the meeting of the administration. The Commissioner Bahawalpur division briefed the Chief Minister about the Ahmed Pur Sharqia incident and informed him about the rescue work.
During the briefing the Chief Minister was informed that the services of 4 helicopters are being used for the transportation of injured and other rescue work and for the identification of corpses the special team of forensic has also reached the place where the accident took place.
The Chief Minister also took aerial view the whole situation.
