Mandi Bahauddin(Sher Gondal) : Under Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif’s special initiative 60 buffaloes were distributed among handicapped rural women.
In this respect a ceremony was held at District Complex the other day. In view of more applicants draw was held to choose 60 among them for giving buffalos and cows.
Besides applicants, the ceremony was attended by MPA Shafqat Gondal, Chairman District Council Ghulam Hussain Bosal and live stock department officers.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Hafiz Shaukat Ali said last month i.e. in July, 55 buffalos were given to handicapped women and among them 19 were from Hafizabad district and 36 belonged to this district. The buffalos are milk giving and if properly looked after they can adequately add to the income of handicapped women to make them self sufficient to meet their day to day needs. He said the purpose of this scheme is to empower handicapped women to lead their lives with dignity in the society.
