Lahore : Pakistan has become the new champion of ICC Champions Trophy. The eight number team who could hardly create a space to play in the champions trophy ,was smashed by the arch rival India in the opening match but later it moved forward with constatent performance against South Africa, and Sri Lanka.
They outclassed the favourite England in the semi-final and India in the final ,they build a good total of 338 to chase in the final match with the help of Fakhar century who was playing his first match against India and a very good knock of Babar Azam and Muhammad Hafeez who scored 50 plus each and some supporting shots of Imad .
This was the Pakistan’s second highest total against India , the highest 344 was made in 2004, Karachi ,some 13 years before.
A few good bowling spells of Pakistani bowlers and over confident Indian batting side’s hitting paved the way for Pakistan to lift the cup at Oval.
Rohit Sharma was the first batsman to go back to pavilion on duck in the very first over of the match bowled by left handed fast bowler Muhammad Amir.He played 3 balls but could not open his account. Captain Kohli dropped by Azhar Ali at slip on 5 score but he could not survived as he caught out on the very next ball of Muhammad Amir’s second over when total was 6 on scoreboard.
Yuvraj and Dawan tried to establish innings and stayed on the wicket with an effort to maintain the run-rate but could not go far as the partnership was broken by Muhammad Amir . Yuvraj and MS Dhoni tried for come back in the match but Yuvraj could not make it, he was given LBW on Shadab Khan’s review appeal in 13th over.
MS Dhoni was the next to go , he got out while hitting his favourite pull shot on the rising delivery of Hassan Ali in 14th over when India was just 54 for 5. Jadhav was next to go on 9 with the total 72 for 6 on the board in 17th over.
Pandya was the man who resisted a little bit and smashed Shadab Khan 3 consecutive sixers hit one 4 too and single in Shadab’ s over .He scored impressive 72 and run out on the hasty call of his fellow Jadeja who happened to next to walk out from the ground in 28th over bowled by Junaid Khan. At that time board was displaying 156 for 8. Ashwin was next who left the crease after caught behind on the ball of Hassan Ali in 29th over’s first ball. Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah were the last pair who tried to stay at wicket for maximum but fall out in 31st over
And thus Pakistan defeated the defending Champion India by 180 Runs in the final match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
