Lahore : Kh. Imran Nazir has said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced cash awards for common citizens on helping to eradicate manufacturing substandard and spurious drugs from the province . He said that people can give information through telephone call on helpline 080099000 regarding such manufacturing units.
He stated this while addressing cash award distributing ceremony at DGHS committee, here today.
Besides, Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan, Additional Secretary Drug Control Muhammad Suhail, Chief Drug Controller, Director Pharmacy, officers of PQCB, drug inspectors and a large number of people attended the ceremony.
The Minister informed that special allowance will also be given to the members of the Chief Minister Taskforce on Spurious Drugs. He appreciated the efforts of Drug inspectors who have rendered their services efficiently despite all difficulties and un-favorable conditions.
Kh. Imran Nazir said that more than one thousand successful raids have been conducted against substandard and unregistered manufacturing units and FIRs were registered against the owners. He lauded the services of common citizens who expressed braveness and informed the concerned authorities regarding such illegal units and cooperated in conducting successful raids.
The Minister reiterated that government will deal those with iron hands who are playing with human lives. He said that struggle against spurious and substandard medicines will continue till complete elimination of this menace.
He thanked all members of drug wing, taskforce team, officers of district administration and police officials on their cooperation. Minister Health gave away cheques for Rs. 10 lakh per person and certificates on behalf of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to seven persons who informed on helpline 0800-99000 for conducting successful raids at Lahore, Multan, Kasur, Rawalpindi, Mianwali, Khanewal and Sahiwal.
Moreover, Kh. Imran Nazir distributed prizes and certificates among drug inspectors, officials, district officers and police employees taking part in the raids.
The Minister said that those displaying outstanding performance in Health Department will be rewarded and those showing negligence will be held accountable.
Kh. Imran Nazir said that no system can run successfully without the process of reward and punishment therefore, this process will be furthered.
