Raja Ashfaq attends a ceremony regarding Child Labour Day at IRI center

Lahore : A ceremony was held in connection with Child Labour Day at IRI center, chaired by the Provincial Minister for Labour & Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar.

Country Director of ILO, DG Labour, Project Director Child Labour and huge number of students participated in the meeting.

While presiding over the ceremony, the Provincial Minister said that it was due to our untiring efforts and commitment that we have enrolled 87 thousand children of brick kilns labourers in schools. We are fully committed to our work not for the sake that we are answerable to the people but above all we are also answerable to the Almighty Allah. This is only because of the labour friendly vision of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif that no child could be found being working on any brick kiln.

Moreover, we have also extended over domain to other three sectors that is hotels, workshops and petrol pumps. This is due to our commitments that laws have been passed against the child labour and the whole machinery is strictly adhering to the law.

Moreover, Labour Department in connivance with PVTC and TEVTA are designing special long term and short term courses for the children according to their adaptability and education.

In the end, the Provincial Minister said that we will soon be making legislation for the workers participation fund and the summary in this regard has been sent to the Chief Minister so that every labourer should get his due right on time.
