Lahore : Members Assembly belonging to Bahawalpur division called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here today. During the meeting, budget proposals, public peace, development schemes, wheat procurement campaign and Ramadan Package came under discussion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that record funds have been allocated for development schemes in the budget of next financial year and added that energy projects are being speedily executed throughout the country under the leadership of Prime Minister. He said that darkness will be removed forever with the completion of power projects.
He said that solar energy plants of 400-megawatt have been set up at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur while a Turk company is establishing 300-megawatt solar power plant.
He said that a new world has been settled with the installation of energy projects in the desert of Bahawalpur while Sahiwal Coal Power Project which is the biggest coal project and first CPEC project is generating 1320-MW electricity.
He said that credit of completing this project in a record period of 22 months goes to the efforts and hard work made under the leadership of Prime Minister. He said that well-wishers of the country are happy over completion of projects while handful opponents are worried over this project.
He said that with the completion of energy projects, the promise of elimination of load-shedding made by Prime Minister to the people will be fulfilled. He said that effective steps have been taken for purging the country of menace of terrorism and extremism and added that Pak Army, police, officers of security institutions, youth, children and the citizens have rendered sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
He said that operation Radd-ul-Fasaad is moving forward against the enemies of Pakistan successfully. He expressed the hope that terrorism will be completely eliminated from the country and Pakistan will become a haven of peace.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Program has brought a revolution in rural lifestyle and said that such a splendid project was never made in 70 years history of the country. He said that this project is a masterpiece of quality, transparency and speedy completion.
He said that Rs. 65 billion have been spent on this excellent program of construction and rehabilitation of rural roads. He said that Rs. 17 billion have been earmarked for this program in the budget. He said that steps taken for the promotion of agriculture and prosperity of farmers have proved fruitful.
He said that record production of wheat has obtained this year due to subsidy of billions of rupees on fertilizers, electricity tariff and agriculture implements and farmer has become prosperous due to the steps for the promotion of agriculture. He said that interest free loans are being given to small farmers in the history of the country and a mega program of Saaf Pani is being launched from all tehsils of south Punjab.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Rs. 25 billion have been allocated for this program in the budget. He said that four European companies and a Japanese company are conducting survey of the entire area. He said that a grand road has been constructed at cost of billions of rupees from Bahawalpur to Hasilpur while work has been started on the project of construction of dual road from Khanewal to Lodhran. He said that metro bus service has been launched at a cost of 30 billion rupees in Multan and unprecedented importance has been given to the development of South Punjab during present tenure.
The Chief Minister announced to give Astroturf for promoting hockey in Bahawalpur and directed Secretary Schools Education to visit Cholistan and resolve the problems of the schools there. He said that all have to discharge their responsibilities in the process of development and ensuring transparent utilization of national resources is the responsibility of Members Assembly. He said that elected representatives should utilize all their capabilities for resolving the problems of the people by keeping a close contact with them.
Shahbaz Sharif appreciated the performance of administration and police officers of three districts of Bahawalpur division. He said that those doing good work are our heroes while accountability will be held on poor performance.
Members Assembly thanked Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on taking personal interest in the development of south Punjab and said that he has won the hearts of the people by completing development projects of billions of rupees in South Punjab. They said that construction and rehabilitation of rural roads is a great achievement of the Chief Minister and he has done extraordinary work for the prosperity of farmers which has never done in 70 years history of the country.
Members Assembly congratulated the Chief Minister on speedy completion of energy projects and provision of high standard medicines in government hospitals. Provincial Ministers, Malik Iqbal Channar, Ch. Muhammad Shafique, Member National Assembly Hamza Shehbaz and administrative and police officers were present on the occasion.
