Development scheme of DHQ hospital completion approved

Mandi Bahauddin ( Sher Gondal ) : Inhabitants of Mandi Bahauddin district have welcomed approval given by Punjab Provincial Development Working Party for construction of new DHQ hospital project with tertiary medical facilities with cost of Rs 1,140,000,000.

This hospital project was sanctioned in 2004 and started in 2008 but left half way due to lack of funds. Later development funds were allocated but they were spent on other development schemes of less importance.

During first and second tenure of CM Punjab large amounts of development funds were allocated for this district but they were spent on construction of roads, parks and other schemes. People repeatedly urged Punjab Government through press and local parliamentarians but the hospital project did not attract attention of the rulers.

Mandi Bahauddin district is very poor with regard to medical facilities. DHQ and other hospitals in the district do not entertain critical cases and refer them to Lahore or Islamabad. Most of patients die when en-route or reaching hospitals, due to delay in timely treatment.
