Lahore : Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital Prof. Ghias un Nabi Tayyab has said that execution of Punjab Hepatitis Prevention and Control Program is need of the hour to materialize the health vision of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
This program would go a long way to control hepatitis and provision of medical facilities to patients free of cost. Under this program, hepatitis clinics would be set up at tehsil and district level which will help patients to find data and screening of their diseases. Moreover Health Department would be able to plan its future strategy.
Prof. Ghias un Nabi Tayyab appealed to the masses to be benefitted by this facility provided by the Government getting themselves screened in order to keep informed about their health.
He stressed upon the specialist doctors of PGMI, students of Ameer ud Din Medical College and nursing students to enthusiastically participate in the campaign of sensitizing people about hepatitis, especially people dwelling in far flung areas must be made aware of free screening and registration facilities.
All the stake holders must be taken on board in order to launch a vigorous awareness campaign in connection with prevention against hepatitis, he added.
The Principal said that used blades, unsterilized equipments of dentistry, repeated usage of syringes and non-tested blood transfusion have multiplied the spread of hepatitis in the country. Therefore, public should also be very careful along with doctors while being treated against some ailment.
He said that Punjab Government is spending huge amount in health sector and also for the vaccination of Hepatitis B. However, the Principle “Prevention is better than Cure” will have to be made narrative of the day, Prof. Tayyab concluded.
