Lahore : Minister for Railways Kh Saad Rafiq has said that Pakistan Railways will be launching a new Rail Car for Rawalpindi to Kohat.
While chairing a meeting , the minister directed that work on the improvement of track between Rawalpindi to Kohat should be completed in 4 months and renovation of Kohat Railway Station must be completed in stipulated time. He directed officials to keep Rail fares less in comparison to Road Transport.
He said Railways should offer introductory concessional fares on AC Sleepers for it’s passengers travelling on the new rehabilitated routes. While deciding train time table for Rawalpindi Kohat section, he further instructed that train shall reach Pindi at 10 in morning and leave by 9 at night. This will facilitate the passengers who opt for single day visit to Pindi.
Taking notice of the complaints on social media regarding fares at busy sections like Karachi, Hyderabad, Lahore and Gujranwala, he instructed officials to carry out a study and examine the price of a train fare in contrast to road transport between places of relative distance.
He said that lowering Green line, luxury train fare from Rs.1510 to Rs 1200 indicates customer’s confidence in Pakistan Railways and we are firm to provide cheap and reliable transportation to public.
It was also decided to carry out study on rehabilitation of Karachi-Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas Rail service.
