Pakistan Railways freight sector set new records of revenue

Lahore : Pakistan Railways freight sector to set new records of revenue generation in April this year. Last month freight income surged to 1386 million rupees and with this earning Pakistan Railways broke its own record of grossing 987 million that was earned in October 2015.

Four years back in April 2013 Railways freight income was recorded as low as 322 million that has increased up to 1386 million last month.

Pakistan Railways spokesperson released the statistics regarding month of April stating that in year 2013 passenger income was only 1043 million which has drastically improved to 1846 million in April 2017, the jump of 800 million in revenue of a single month is an indicator of confidence of passengers in Pakistan Railways and its services.

An overall comparison of month of April 2013 vs 2017 shows that total income of Pakistan Railways has surpassed 3500 million last month as compared to 1539 million only four years back.

Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique extended felicitations to Chairperson Railway Board Ms Parveen Agha, Chief Executive Officer Pakistan Railways Javed Anwar, Advisor to Federal Minister for Railways Anjum Pervaiz, Member Finance Railway Board Ghulam Mustafa and all the members of his team on this unprecedented achievement.

He said that hard work, morality, merit, and transparency always pays off and we are reaping the positive outcomes due to these standards. He said that statistics speak louder than slogans and promises. We are setting new records in Pakistan Railways and again breaking our own, exploring new avenues of progress and we shall set new high targets for next year and perform our best to achieve them.
