Lahore : The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has decided to hold a protest meeting outside PEMRA offices in Islamabad and all its regional offices across the country on the day Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) meet the PEMRA chairman.
The demonstration will be held to highlight the plight of the electronic media journalists and workers who are consistently being denied their legal rights by the electronic media owners.
The decision to hold demonstrations across the country was taken at the first-ever “Online Meeting” of the Central Executive Council of PFUJ presided over by its President Afzal Butt. It was participated by all members of the FEC from all over the country.
The meeting decided that the proposed demand of the PBA to increase the “Commercial Air-time” will be opposed by the PFUJ till the electronic media owners agree to fulfil their legal obligations like issuing appointment letters, providing on-time salaries, medical facilities, insurance, provident fund and gratuity besides agreeing to a wage structure for their employees.
The FEC meeting directed all the UJs to mobilise the workers by holding corner meetings and utilising all their energies to make the protest successful.
