Pakistan’s special made us proud at the special Olympics : Jahangir Khanzada

Lahore : “Pakistan’s special have made us proud at the special Olympics held in Austria. From among 3000 athletes from 107 countries,12 of our athletes have won 16 medals including 3 gold,7 silver, and 6 bronze” provincial minister for sports Jahangir Khanzada said while speaking during a ceremony held at the National Hockey Stadium.

The ceremony was held to distribute cheques among players who had win medals in the Special Olympics. The ceremony was presided over by the provincial minister for sports Jahangir Khanzada, Secretary Sports Punjab Nayyar Iqbal, Director General Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmad Ghumman, head of special monitoring unit chief minister house Syeda Fatima Zaidi, Vice chairman special Olympics Pakistan Anees ur Rehman, Director Sports Muhammad Anees Sheikh, Deputy Director Muhammad Hafeez Bhatti also graced the occasion.

Provincial minister for sports told the media that efforts were being done for improving the sports culture in the youth of the province according to the vision of the chief minister Punjab. Speaking at the occasion, Director General sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmad Ghumman highlighted the fact that our special players have always made us proud at the international level. Rimsha Naeem ,Sabahat Tariq, Fatima Amir, and Huzaifa Qazi were each given cheques of Rs.75000;On Winning silver Hamza Aslam ,Usama Aziz, Pervaiz Ahmad and Hameed udeen were awarded with cheques of Ra.50000 each,whereas Tehmina Munir was handed over a cheque of Rs. 40000.

At the end of the ceremony the athletes thanked the provincial minister for sports Jahangir Khanzada, Secretary sports Punjab Nayyar Iqbal and Zulfiqar Ahmad Ghumman and also raised slogans thanking the Punjab government for recognition.
