WAPDA Won Championships by winning Six (6) Gold and One (1) Bronze Medal

LahoreWAPDA Won Championships with 97 Points by winning Six (6) Gold and One (1) Bronze Medal. Railways were Runners up with 67 Points by winning One (1) Gold, Three (3) Silver and Three (3) Bronze Medals. Police secured 3rd Position with 52 points by winning One (1) Gold and Three (3) Silver Medals.

Muhammad Jahangir (Associate Secretary General POA/ Chairman Pakistan Karate Federation) inaugurated the championships and distributed medals among winners of 59, 66 and 74 Kg Categories.

Powerlifters from Eleven teams of the country participated in these two days mega event of Powerlifting Bench- Press championship which includes WAPDA, RAILWAYS , POLICE, Sindh, Balochistan, KPK, FATA, Islamabad, AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan and Punjab.

Asim Shahzad (WAPDA) created Three New National Records in 59 Kg category by lifting 106, 110 and 112 Kg Bench Press respectively, which were all new National Records.

Hafiz Muhammad Waqas (WAPDA) created one new National Record in 105 Kg category by lifting 193 Kg.

Aftab (WAPDA) also created one new National Record in 120 Kg category by lifting 195 Kg Bench Press.

Muhammad Usman (WAPDA) lifted heaviest Bench Press of the Championships by lifting 197 Kg in Over 120 Kg category.

Muhammad Manzoor of Police won Gold in 83 Kg category and Ather Ali of Railways won Gold medal in 93 Kg category after a tough competition with their close rivals.

Competitions on the final day were held in 83, 93, 105, 120 & over 120 Kg categories and the guest of honours were; Dr. Zafar Iqbal Butt( Head of Sports Deptt. University of the Punjab), Muhammad Khalid Mahmood ( IWF Cat-1 Referee/ National Gold Medalist/ International Powerliftter), Amjad Amin Butt ( General Secretary Pakistan Weightlifting Federation) and Chief Executive Officer(Pakistan Weightlifting Federation) Hafiz Imran Butt gave away the medals, Certificates, Shields and Winning Trophy to WAPDA Powerlifting team, Runners Up Trophy to Railways Team & Third Position Trophy to Police Team.

General Secretary (PPLF) Muhammad Rashed Malik payed his thanks to the participating teams, and  guests of honour for their interest and time for the prize distribution ceremony of the championship.

A large no of National/ International players and a great no audience were present at this occasion and appreciate the very well organized National Powerlifting Bench-Press Championship 2017 which attracted altogether 125 Powerlifters from all over the country.
