Lahore : Punjab Revenue Authority in collaboration with Punjab Information Technology Board has conducted the 9th, 10th and 11th computer balloting for Amanat Scheme with respect to its innovative and highly successful Restaurant Invoice Monitoring System (RIMS).
For the first time, the ceremony was held outside Lahore in the metropolis of Faisalabad. Invoices from customers of participating restaurants from Faisalabad were also eligible for the draw.
The ceremony was organised with assistance from GiZ at the Serena Hotel, Faisalabad. The ceremonies of Amanat Scheme have become a hallmark of innovation, participatory governance and transparency with real-time balloting and live phone calls to the winners.
Punjab Law Minister, Rana Sanaullah Khan graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The prizes included Toyota Corolla, Honda City and Suzuki Mehran cars, 70cc motorcycles, Umrah tickets, tablets, food coupons, beauty parlour coupons, TDCP excursion tickets and Daewoo free travel tickets. Many winners expressed their pleasant surprise and utter disbelief upon being informed about their wins under full media glare.
Punjab Revenue Authority is actively working on enhancing the geographical outreach of RIMS to other cities of Punjab like Rawalpindi and Multan. Also, after the successful roll-out of RIMS, Punjab Revenue Authority is also seeking to develop a Beauty Parlours Invoice Monitoring System (BIMS). Punjab Revenue Authority is expecting that once BIMS is implemented, the revenue from that sector will also improve considerably as happened with the restaurant sector.
At the same time, Punjab Revenue Authority, with its aim of improving tax compliance in the country, has expressed its keen desire and interest in sharing its experiential knowledge with other tax collection agencies of Pakistan for which purpose it is in the process of setting up an advance training & research facility.
