Punjab government is not able to provide security 6 hours match : Ch Parvez Elahi

Lahore : Ch Parvez Elahi has said that if Punjab government cannot hold 6 hours match even its own capital then what is its responsibility?, they should accept their inefficiency and resign, for the first time in the history of the world any government has sought army help for holding a match this too smacks its ill-intention, government strategy is that of match is held peacefully it should be termed as an achievement of N-League and God-forbid any incident occurs then its responsibility be put on the army.

Responding to questions from the media at his residence here today, former Punjab Chief Minister Ch Parvez Elahi said that the army is already fighting on many fronts, tension of eastern and western borders is increasing every day and within the country operation “Radul Fasad” is going on, in these circumstances involving the army in the security of cricket matches amounts to interrupting its war against terrorism.

He further said that despite 9/11, during our five years tenure international cricket was being played in Punjab and no foreign player was afraid of coming to Pakistan for playing, India, Australia, South Africa and West Indies teams had played matches here and for these matches the army was also not called, we had even organized marathon race in Lahore which has not been held since then till today because law and order was our first priority, we had provided foolproof system of wardens and patrolling posts in which even common functionary was given commando training and most modern weapons, if Shehbaz Sharif had not destroyed this system out of his enmity and commandoes and traffic wardens were deployed in Lahore with arms like in the past then neither terrorists would have succeeded in attacking Sri Lankan team nor Pakistan would have been deprived of international cricket.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that by holding the entire city hostage for one match, this propaganda against Pakistan is being strengthened that Pakistan has become the most dangerous country of the world which itself is a matter of great concern.
