Ongoing energy projects are going to complete this year : Shahbaz Sharif

Lahore : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting to review progress on different energy projects in the province.

Address the meeting, the Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, round the clock efforts being made for elimination of energy crisis are proving fruitful and ongoing energy projects are going to complete throughout the country. He said that a new history of hard work, honesty and continuous struggle is being written with regard to work on energy projects. He said that 3600 megawatt gas power projects at Jhang, Sheikhupura and Balloki will be completed during current year and Rs. 112 billion have been saved in these projects.

Shehbaz Sharif said that 3600 megawatt gas based projects are going to complete in a record period of 26 months. He said that 1320 megawatt Sahiwal Coal Power Project will also be completed in a record period and added that projects of such capacity have not completed in such a short period even in China.

He said that with the completion of this project, 1320 megawatt electricity will be added to national grid. He said that this project will prove to be an important milestone in progress and prosperity of the country.

The Chief Minister said that completion of energy projects will result in elimination of darkness from the country and provision of cheap electricity to the consumers as well. Punjab government is forwarding projects of energy generation through coal, gas, wind, solar and other sources, he added.

Shehbaz Sharif said that Punjab government has also set up a hundred megawatt solar project form its own resources in Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur and agreements regarding solar power projects have been made with Turk Company Zorlu Energy.

Provincial Minister for Finance Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Federal Secretary Water and Power, Chairman Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Limited, General Manager PEPCO, Chairman Planning & Development, Chief Executive Officer LESCO, MD NTDC and concerned officials were present on the occasion.
