Speed and lack of attention are the main causes of accident : DIG Mirza Faran Baig

Lahore : The accidents analysis of year 2016 reveals that 08 fatal accidents occurred in careless and reckless driving while 02 accidents due to over speeding. Speed and lack of attention while driving caused the horrific accidents on national highways. This is said by DIG National Highways and Motorway Police Mirza Faran Baig while analysis the ongoing campaign against over speeding.

DIG Mirza Faran Baig said most of these fatal accidents are linked to over-speeding that leads to losing control of the wheel and hitting the median or colliding with other vehicles on national highways. The impact of such accidents is so intense that the vehicle turns over several times, killing and injured drivers and his passengers instantly.

While keeping in views of accidents analysis these terrible accidents the Motorway Police deployed speeding checking cameras along with extra patrolling mobiles, he added.

DIG Mirza Faran Baig said NH&MP would not tolerate speeding drivers who endanger their lives as well as the innocent lives of others. He also called on the motorists to adhere to the traffic rules, abide by the speed limits and be cautious while driving on national highways.

The officers have also been asked to visit different hotels and rest areas besides national highways to brief and educate drivers staying there about the consequences of speeding. In order to make this campaign more successful and meaningful, the officers of Mobile Education Unit of central zone will also visit different goods transport and passengers bus terminals from Lahore to Rahim Yar Khan in order to brief and educate drivers about the hazards of speeding.  Banners containing awareness messages will also been displayed at all the important places on national highways.
