Lahore : Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir has announced a reward of Rs 1 million for the faculty member on publication of his/her research work in gold star journals.
He was addressing the closing session of international training workshop on “Microarray for Gene Expression” organized by Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) here on Friday.
Director CEMB Prof Dr Tayyeb Husnain, faculty members and a number of participants from various academic institutions were present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir said that he wanted to ensure quality of education in the university and the administration would encourage quality research work. He said that the research work being done at CEMB was very impressive.
He said that we should do the research that could serve the community and the administration was taking steps to market research work being done at PU. He said that such workshops were excellent opportunities for knowledge sharing and cross fertilization of ideas.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Tayyeb Husnain said that the impact factor of CEMB for year 2016 is more than 132.485. He said that our researchers had developed many new varieties of cotton, two of which including CEMB 33 and CA12 have already been approved by Punjab seed council for cultivation and many more are in pipeline and our klean cotton is also in field for trails.
He said that in this four day training workshop, the participants got hands on training experience of microarray and got thorough lectures on data analysis of microarray by experts. Later, certificates were distributed among participants.
