Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting at Governor House Lahore

Lahore : Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting at Governor House Lahore to monitor progress of Prime Minister’s Global Sustainable Development Goals Program (2016-18).

The sectoral SDG program for Pakistan includes Electrification schemes, rehabilitation of electricity distribution infrastructure, Gas and Natural resources, new schools and up-gradation of existing schools with provision of facilities, construction of Basic Health Units and Regional Health Centres, up-gradation of existing health facilities, construction and rehabilitation of Farm to Market roads.

PM said that SDGs implementation will have a positive trickle-down effect on the common masses thereby improving the livelihood of the citizens. PM emphasized that Government of Pakistan and Provincial Governments should work hand-in-hand tthrough matching grant basis to implement SDGs. “Improving the living standards of the people of Pakistan is our mission and we are delivering efficiently by the grace of Almighty”, stated the PM.

PM further stated that we should coordinate effectively for implementation of SDG Program.

PM lauded the excellent work undertaken by Chief Minister Punjab in leading development initiatives. Efficient progress on projects and ensuring transparency should be appreciated, stated the PM.

The meeting was attended by Governor Punjab, Chief Minister Punjab, Federal Minister for Finance, Minister for Interior, Minister for Railways, Minister for Planning & Development, Minister for Petroleum & Natural Resources, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Punjab Provincial Minister for Law; Finance Minister Punjab and senior parliamentarians and Government officials.
