Lahore : U.S. Consul General Lahore Yuriy Fedkiw along with Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Lincoln Corner at Information Technology University, Arfa Software Technology Tower.
The Chief Minister attended the ceremony and thanked the U.S. government for their generous support. Vice Chancellor Information Technology University Dr. Umar Saif and U.S. Embassy Islamabad Minister Counselor for Public Affairs Christina Tomlinson also graced the occasion.
Consul General Fedkiw said “Our goal is to share information about the United States and the diversity of our country. Diversity is our strength and reflects our nation’s richness. We want to demonstrate our enduring partnership with Pakistan, especially in support of education and the vibrant exchange of ideas.”
Lincoln Corners are partnerships between the Embassy of the United States of America and selected institutions in Pakistan. Located within universities, public libraries, and other institutions, Lincoln Corners provide information about the United States, English language learning opportunities, study abroad advising, cultural programs, and alumni activities. These spaces promote open dialogue and build bridges of understanding. Visitors gain free access to Wi-Fi and current and reliable information about the United States through books, magazines, videos, internet, databases, and programs for the general public.
With the inauguration of the Lahore Lincoln Corner, Pakistan will have a total of 19 Lincoln Corners in the country. Lincoln Corners demonstrate America’s enduring partnership with Pakistan, especially in support of education and democracy.
Currently, U.S. Consulate General Lahore oversees five Lincoln Corners in Punjab: Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Bahawalpur and Multan. Lincoln Corner Lahore is a partnership with Information Technology University Lahore.
