Islamic World Academy of Sciences awards fellowship to Professor Shazia Anjum

Lahore : A world renowned Pakistani academician and researcher Professor Dr. Shazia Anjum of Cholistan Institute of Desert studies has been awarded fellowship of a prestigious institution “Islamic World Academy of Sciences”.

Professor Dr. Shazia Anjum holds PhD in medicinal chemistry from HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry in 2000. She did her post doctorate from CSIC, Madrid, Spain in the same discipline. Professor Dr. Shazia Anjum has edited 3 books and has authored and co-authored more than 100 research papers in the discipline of organic chemistry.

During her academic research career she has accomplished the synthesis of several natural occurring aminoglycosides. The research on aminoglycosides is a new innovation in medicinal research as antibiotics.

Presently Professor Dr. Shazia Anjum is at the Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry at The Islamia University Bahawalpur. She is also the Director of Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies, the Islamia University Bahawalpur. She is globally renowned researcher in the discipline of medicinal and natural product chemistry. Her services have been recognized both at national and International level. She has been awarded 2 International awards from Ministry of Culture and Education Spain and Third World Academy of Sciences, Young Chemist award from Italy. She is also the recipient of several national awards which include: – Aizaz-e-Kamal, Presidential Award 2006 Pakistan and Mohterma Fatima Jinnah Medal Pakistan in 2005.
