Lahore : Provincial Minister for Local Government, Muhammad Mansha Ullah Butt has said that powers are being devolved through public representatives for ensuring provision of basic facilities to the people at their doorstep.
He expressed the hope that elected chairmen will come up to the expectations of the people. He said that schedule of local bodies elections has been issued according to which December 09 is last date for submission of papers. Scrutiny of all the documents will be completed on 10th and 11th December. Last date for filing appeals is December 14 while December 16 is fixed for withdrawal of nomination papers and display of lists. Election will be held on December 22 and the lists of successful candidates will be displayed on December 23.
Notification will be issued on December 28 while oath-taking ceremony will be held on December 31.
Mansha Ullah said that on the orders of Chief Minister Punjab, directions have been issued for action against encroachments throughout the province and directed that all town administrations should start implementation in this regard. He said that TMOs have also been directed to spare no effort in this process. He said that the process of elimination of encroachments will be monitored so that black sheep be completed eradicated from the department at lower level.
