Lahore : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that he has taken up the challenge of improvement of hospitals and provision of best treatment facilities to the patients and no hurdle will be tolerated in this regard. He said that he will be satisfied only when the people expressed satisfaction over medical facilities in hospitals. He said that he will make all out efforts for providing best healthcare facilities to the citizens as he is answerable to the people as well as Allah Almighty.
He said that existing state of affairs will not be allowed to continue and everyone will have to realize his responsibilities.
The Chief Minister ordered immediate suspension of Medical Superintendent District Headquarters Hospital Nankana and officers concerned for non-implementation of his instructions for improvement of the hospital conditions and dereliction of duties. He also ordered suspension of former MS of the hospital and former EDO Health and action against them.
Shahbaz Sharif also issued instructions for suspension of SE, XEN and SDO concerned for using delaying tactics regarding sewerage scheme of the hospital. He said that in spite of his two visits to the hospital during five months it is regrettable that his instructions have not been followed.
He was presiding over a high level meeting here today which reviewed the matters and problems brought to the notice during the visit of Chief Minister to District Headquarters Hospital Nankana. He said that those who do not pay attention to solution of problems of the ailing humanity have no right to stay on their posts and deserve punishment.
He said that poor patients should not suffer due to negligence or laxity of an officer. He said that every citizen has right over best health facilities and it should be ensured. He said that he wants solid results with regard to availability of modern healthcare facilities in hospitals. He said that those not paying attention to provision of treatment facilities to the patients have no place in Punjab.
The Chief Minister further directed that departmental action should also be initiated against MS District Headquarters Hospital Nankana and other officers. He directed Chief Secretary to make it binding upon Commissioners and DCOs to pay regular visits to hospitals for improving the situation. He said that negligence towards public welfare projects like sewerage in hospitals is intolerable.
Advisor on Health Kh. Salman Rafique, Parliamentary Secretary on Health Kh. Imran Nazir, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary and concerned officials attended the meeting whereas DCO Nankana, EDO Health and MS DHQ Nankana participated in the meeting through video link.
