Mandi Bahauddin (Sher Gondal ) : A seminar on ‘rule of law’ was held here at Jinnah Hall of District Jinnah Public School and College under arrangements of District Judiciary. District and Sessions Judge Nisar Ahmed chaired the event while retired justice Aqeel Mirza was the Chief Guest.
The all available judges and district administration officers including DSJ Chakwal Mushtaq Ahmed Tarar, DCO Muzaffar Sial, and Senior Civil Judge Imran Shahbaz attended the seminar.
In his introductory address DSJ Nisar Ahmed said purpose of celebrations of LHC 150 foundation year was to aware the public that Judiciary was active to protect their rights and administer speedy and transparent justice to the litigant public.
Upholding rule of law is indispensable for Pakistan to have a dignified place in the world and in this connection the judges and lawyers together were doing their best. He said in dispensation of justice administration and lawyers play equally important role and without their cooperation the judiciary alone cannot achieve the desired results. As compared to past the judiciary of today was giving better performance with regard to providing relief to public.
Addressing the function the Chief Guest said it is remarkable and most welcome decision of the Chief Justice to announce celebrations of LHC 150 year foundation across Punjab. He said Lahore High Court is the oldest court that was set up in 1866. He said no one can appreciate worth of ‘rule of law’ better than a judge.
Speaking on the occasion DCO said that rule of law is the important pillar on which the state stands for existence. Our judiciary has always worked to uphold rule of law and played a positive role in maintaining balance in the society, he further added.
