Lahore : Diabetes is mother of all diseases which destroys human body silently. The danger of diabetes can be avoided only by spreading maximum awareness among masses about timely diagnose and preventive measures against it.
This was told by Prof. Ghias un Nabi Tayyab, Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital, and other medical experts on the eve of World Diabetes Day during an awareness walk held at LGH, here today.
The walk was largely attended by general masses, nurses, doctors, faculty members and special arrival of renowned artist Adil Hashmi and Columnist Sajjad Mir, Chairman BOM Suleman Ghani and MS Dr. Ghulam Sabar.
A free medical camp was also conducted on this occasion where a large number of people got their tests free of cost. Nurses raised banners and posters reflecting slogans and preventive measures against diabetes.
Prof. Ghias un Nabi Tayyab while talking to media said that such walks play important role in the process of informing people to be alert from menace of diabetes. He said that current numbers of diabetes patients in Pakistan is 7 million which can be doubled in 2040 if emergency steps are not taken immediately.
Sajjad Mir, Adil Hashmi said that media can play very vital role in the process of hindering the way of diabetes however general masses should also adopt the habits of physical exercise and careful eating to avoid this disease.
Dr. Imran Hassan Khan said that diabetes is always very dangerous to human heart and kidneys. It can also effected eyesight. He stressed upon the parents to keep close eye on their bulky kids and watch their habits of television and computer watching. At the end of the walk gifts were also distributed among patients through balloting.
