Lahore : The crackdown launched by Punjab Food Authority teams under the supervision of Director Operations Rafia Haider against those involved in preparation and sale substandard food items in various areas. A heavy fine was imposed to Al-Fazal Restaurant Township and sealed on poor storage arrangements, storing unhygienic food in freezer and presence of cement in kitchen. Shehzad Nimko Canal Park Gulberg-III was immediately sealed on poor cleanliness arrangements, use of dirty water, presence of open drain in production area, non-traceability of food items, presence of mouse and placing nimko directly on floor. A heavy fine was imposed to Poultry Plus, Nishter Town Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate on poor sewerage arrangements, presence of open drains, using blue coloured dirty chemicals drums to store meat and presence of blood spots on the floor. A fine was imposed to United Confectioners on using expired items, presence of insects and poor condition of workers.
Samanabad team imposed heavy fine to Al-Rehmat Restaurant, Wahdat Road Bukhari Market on using expired oil, presence of open production area, non-traceability of meat, improper labeling of food items, non-coverage of meat and workers working without wearing gloves and cover heads. A fine was imposed to Golden Hotel Rehmanpura on having open production area, workers working without cove heads and gloves and dirty freezers. A fine was imposed to Butt Sweets and Bakers on using expired oil, presence of chicken on open place, dirty clothes in storage area and non-use of clothes and head cover and orders was issued for improvement in future.
A fine was imposed to Data Milk Shop Dharmpura on placing edible items on ground, poor cleanliness arrangements and non-coverage of food items, besides samples of milk were taken for laboratory testing. Haji Samusa Shop was immediately sealed on presence of insects in edible items, mouse, use of substandard food ingredients and presence of spider nets and rotten vegetables. A notice was issued to Madina Paratha and Tea Stall Dharampura for keeping utensils clean and covering edible items.
Director General Punjab Food Authority, Noor ul Amin Mengal imposed a fine of five lakh rupees to Jojo Confectionary Gujranwala on poor cleanliness arrangements and use of substandard, expired and unhygienic food items and issued directions for improvement.
Moreover, American Bakery Shahpur Town Gujranwala was sealed on using expired items, substandard cooking oil and bad condition of store.
