Secretary Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Khalid Mehmood and Secretary Punjab Olympic Association (PbOA) Idris Haider Khawaja were also present on this occasion.
Addressing the participants, Director General Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman said doping is one of the major challenges of modern sports era and a proper knowledge and training regarding the usage of medicines can save sportsmen from doping threat. “It’s the fundamental obligation of the sports federations and associations to make their male and female players aware of the terrible consequences of doping,” he added. “There are several examples where top sports figures ruined their career only due to lack of sports medicine knowledge”.
The course is being held under the auspices of Punjab Olympic Association. The objective of the course is to make the participants aware about the menace of doping in sports. Countries like Pakistan are more vulnerable to dangers and lethal consequences of doping because of lack of awareness about the use of drugs.
Sports medicine experts will deliver lectures to highlight the importance of sports medicine knowledge. Every day at least 40 coaches will attend the course.
