Lahore : Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed ud Din has said that women of South Asia are coming forward in all sectors of life and their representation in elected houses has substantially improved.
She is representing Pakistan in South Asian Women Development Forum in Kathmandu, Nepal. Hameeda Waheed ud Din said that representation of women in legislative institutions of Nepal is equal to men. She said that under the constitution of Nepal it is mandatory that either president or prime minister and speaker or deputy speaker should be a woman.
She said that Nepalese women are also contesting election on general seats and these include such women as have no political background.
HameedaWaheedud Din during her visit met Nepalese President Mrs. Bidhya Devi Bhandari besides women delegates representing different countries of South Asia and discussed various issues. She said that it is an honor for her to represent Pakistan at this important forum.
She also stressed the need for collective efforts and mutual cooperation for the progress and prosperity of the region.
