Lahore : Pakistan athletes made memorable entry in the International Biathle-Triathle World Championship winning five medals in Sarasota, Florida, USA the other day. Around 600 athletes from 25 countries participated in the high-profile championship which was contested in swimming, shooting and running events.
Pakistan’s medals’ tally includes three gold medals, one silver and one bronze medal. Pakistan athletes, who were featuring for the first time in such a prestigious event, won gold medals through Murtaza Ibrahim, Hamza Ataullah and Abdullah Amir. Mustafa Ibrahim also excelled in his contest and won silver medal while Hasan Khalid grabbed the solitary bronze medal for Pakistan. Imran Haider Tipu and Khalid Zaman were the team manager and coach of the national team respectively.
Riaz Fatyana, the President of Pakistan Modern Pentathlon Federation (PMPF), on Tuesday, congratulated the national athletes for their splendid performance in America. “It was their maiden appearance in the world’s top championship and they really offered handsome performance. We are quite confident that our athletes will also excel in future events and make good name for the country,” he added.
