Any attempt to disrupt govt functioning would be foiled as per law:Pervaiz Rashid

pervaiz-rashidLahore : Federal Minister for Information,Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Monday said that those resorting to politics of `sit-ins’ did not want the country to make the much-needed headway.

Talking to reporters at the residence of slain Qawwal Amjad Sabri here, he said that all the democratic forces in  the country would counter the designs of those who were practicing the politics of
disruption and unrest.

He was of the view that after the issuance of notice to the respondents by the Supreme Court, there was no justification for any `Dharna’. If the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan
had trust in the apex court then he should have waited for its verdict.

Pervaiz Rashid said that the court had issued notices to all the respondents including Imran Khan. He said that the Prime Minister had hailed the issuance of notices by the Supreme Court and “we will go to
the court so that the allegations leveled by Imran Khan could be exposed.”

Pervaiz Rashid made it clear that if any attempt was made to disrupt the normal functioning of the government as well as the lives of the people in the capital, then the law would be applied to restore
normalcy.

Replying to a question, he said that the probe was being carried out regarding the controversial news story published by a newspaper. When the investigation was completed, its report would be made public,
he added.

The Minister said that those pointing fingers at the government in that connection included both Imran Khan and Aitzaz Ahsan of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) whereas the chief ministers of the PTI
and PPP attended that very meeting. In such a situation, he asked why the finger was pointed only towards the federal government.

He was of the view that October in Pakistan had always been a period of palace conspiracies. Shaheed-i-Millat Khan Liaquat Ali Khan was the first victim of that conspiracy when he was assassinated in
October 1951.

A conspiracy was also hatched against the then Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in October 1999, he added. Similarly, he said Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was also targeted in a suicide attack in a public rally in Karachi in October 2007.

Replying to a question about the arrest of accused involved in Amjad Sabri’s murder, the minister said that the Sindh Government was in a better position to come up with the answer in that respect. He
pointed out that the accused involved in major crimes in Karachi had already been arrested.

Lauding the late Amjad Sabri Qawal, the minister said that he had earned a good name for Pakistan at international level.
Earlier, he met the family members of late Amjad Sabri and presented a compensation cheque of Rs 10 million on behalf of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
