Lahore : A meeting to review the technical aspects of implementation of the CM’s directive regarding installation of trackers in government vehicles was held today in Civil Secretariat Lahore. Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Punjab Shumail Ahmad Khawaja presided over the meeting.
The meeting decided to implement the decision regarding installation of trackers as a phased project. In the first phase, 2575 government vehicles being used in various government departments including the Administrative departments and attached field offices will be equipped with the latest kind of trackers. Services & General Administration Department will sponsor the project while Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will be the execution authority for this project. PC-I of this project will also be prepared by PITB and the funds will be allocated by Planning & Development Department for this purpose. It was decided in the meeting that the autonomous bodies will have to install the trackers in the vehicles in their use on their own expenses.
ACS directed the participants of the meeting to install tracker system preferably in the government vehicles of 2006 model and onward models of the vehicles. The companies assigned to install trackers will not be allowed to place the relevant data in their main server but PITB will safeguard the location based data for control access in its own central data centre at Arfa Karim IT Tower, Lahore.
Managing Director Punjab Procurement Regularity Authority Ali Bahadur Qazi, Director General E-Governance PITB Sajid Latif, Senior Programme Manager PITB Qasim Bhatti, Additional Secretary Transport Wing S&GAD Ashiq Hussain Olakh and MTO Ijaz Karim participated in the meeting besides other relevant senior officers.
